Supported Year, Same You

January loves to present itself as an exciting time of renewed energy, vision, and motivation. And while this may ring true for some, for many others January feels heavy. It can feel like pressure and expectation at a time when you are, frankly, exhausted - still recovering from what felt like the 80 days of December, while the January days are short, cold and life hasn’t yet returned to its usual rhythm.

If you’ve been struggling with your health or knowing that you would benefit from some lifestyle changes, you may be feeling the weight of this “opportunity” the New Year brings. I’m certainly not here to discourage you from making your health a priority in 2026! But may I offer a gentler alternative?

Can we do away with the old mantra “New Year, New You”? There is nothing magical that occurs as the calendar turns the page from December 31 to January 1. In fact, many behavioral studies show that roughly 10 % of people who make New Year’s resolutions actually sustain them long term.

I believe a more realistic mantra might be: Supported Year, Same You.

Real change doesn’t come from attempting to reinvent yourself overnight. It’s more likely to come from support in making small changes that fit your current life.

If you are in the majority and resolutions have never worked for you - you don’t necessarily need more discipline, you may just need support.

Health coaching is for people who want to feel better by leaning on partnership, not just willpower. I’m not here to help you overhaul your life. I want to help you understand your body and your habits and the way the two impact each other.

I believe we desire better health because we love ourselves, our lives, the people in them, and the body that carries us through it all. If this is true for you, why pursue health in a way that isn’t loving, kind, compassionate and relational?

If this resonates and you’re looking for a steadier, more sustainable way forward this year, I’d love to chat. You can reach out at journeywell.life@gmail.com.
